NWSL Supporters Spotlight – The Crown

After a bit of a slow start to the season, the Orlando Pride has come away with points in four out of five of their last games including a win last week against the Houston Dash. The Pride take on the Dash again this weekend, this time at home in front of their fans, including supporters group The Crown. Lisa Raymond provided us with a bit more info about the group.

When did the group start and why?

In 2016 we formed when the expansion team was announced so that The Pride would have a dedicated independent supporter club supporting them.

What are some things that your group does on game day or before game day?

Gameday- tailgate at the brewery Broken Cauldron, have food and merchandise plus games like corn hole and soccer in the lot. We create and display tifos. We have capos, dedicated drummers and chants that we share with The Wall and some unique to just Pride. We march down church street with drums, chants and smoke to the stadium from our tailgate. We also do several things for charity – specifically player supported charities like To Write Love on Her Arms, Planet Love Life, Orlando City Foundation and Pet Alliance Orlando

Where can people find you before/during the game?

Before the game, at Broken cauldron. During on The Wall (the safe standing supporter section at our stadium on the north side)

What can people expect if they join you for a game?

Passion! We aren’t huge but we are filled with members who are passionate about women’s soccer and helping keep the atmosphere electric!

What is your favorite part of being in a supporters group?

Raising my kids with great people (members) and supporting women (players) my girls can look up to.
